Dancing as Is
Maxime D.-Pomerleau
Maxime D.-Pomerleau pursues work that doesn’t centre her disability, but rather a unique expression of her body. She’s actively working to de-centre norms of movement in theatre and dance.
Maxime dances with singer Philippe Brach in this video directed by Olivier Picard and choreographed by Dave St-Pierre.
Maxime D.-Pomerleau is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist. Working for the inclusive dance company Corpuscule Danse since 2014, her artistic practice draws on the search for micro-movement, slowness, and sensoriality. Maxime also investigates self-documentary as a narrative process and the performative potential of marginalized bodies in social, cultural, and media spaces. She likes plants, cats, memes, postcards, the DIY culture, and working for artists with an edgy, sensitive, and daring approach.
